Public transport in Turin
Turin has a dense network of buses, trams and a metro (line M1). The Torino+Piemonte Card itself does not include free use of public transport, but does offer discounts: Holders can purchase a 48-hour or 72-hour ticket for local public transport at a special price (only available at tourist information offices). This ticket is valid from the first validation for the corresponding duration and allows unlimited bus, streetcar and subway travel within the city and surrounding areas. Trips outside the city (e.g. to other places in Piedmont) are not covered. The card also gives you discounts on special tourist lines, such as the panoramic lift in the Mole Antonelliana, the historic Sassi-Superga rack railroad and the Venaria Express shuttle bus to Venaria Castle (weekends). The Airport Bus from Turin-Caselle to the city center is also discounted for cardholders.

Practical use
How to use the card and public transport step by step:
- Get the Torino+Piemonte Card: Buy the card online as a QR code or on site (e.g. tourist info at Piazza Castello). Choose the validity (24-120 hours) to suit your stay.
- Buy a public transport ticket: With the valid card, you can buy a 48h-ticket (€7) or 72h-ticket (€9) for local transport at the Tourist Info. Take the ticket (paper or chip card) with you on your journeys.
- Validation at the start: You must validate the ticket the first time you use it. Get on the bus or streetcar and insert the ticket into the validator or hold it up to the card reader. In the metro, use the ticket to pass through the turnstiles. Tip: To be on the safe side, validate your time ticket again at the reader every journey so that it is registered as valid.
- Control: At ticket controls, simply show your validated 48h/72h ticket. It is not necessary to additionally show the Torino+Piemonte Card (it was only required for the discounted purchase). Keep the ticket with you for the entire period of validity.
Timetable and public transport app
For planning and real-time information, we recommend the official GTT app "TO Move " (free for Android and iOS). The app offers route planning, shows departure times in real time and up-to-date line timetables, and it also enables the purchase of digital tickets. Alternatively, common apps (e.g. Google Maps, Moovit) are also helpful. Operating hours:
- Metro M1: Mon-Thu approx. 5:30-22:00; Fri/Sat until approx. 1:30 (last departure around 1:00); Sun/Festive days approx. 7:00-22:00. Late in the evening, buses (line M1S) replace the metro service.
- Bus and streetcar: Most lines run from around 5:00 a.m. to midnight (depending on the line). At weekends, special Night Buster** night buses run on Saturday and Sunday nights and before public holidays (approx. 10 lines from the city center), which can be used with normal tickets/passes.
Important lines for tourists
- Airport ⇄ city center: A direct airport bus (Arriva) connects Turin-Caselle Airport with the city center every 15-30 minutes. It stops at the Porta Susa and Porta Nuova stations, among others; journey time approx. 45 minutes. One-way ticket (~€7.50 one-way, with Torino Card ~€6.50).
- Stations & hubs: The main stations Porta Nuova and Porta Susa are centrally located and are important transfer points. Both have access to the Metro M1 as well as numerous streetcar and bus lines. From Porta Susa, for example, you can reach the historic center (Piazza Castello) in just a few minutes on bus lines 13, 55 or 56**.
- Reggia di Venaria: The special Venaria Express takes you to the baroque Venaria Reale Castle from Turin (40 minutes, stops include Piazza Castello). As a Torino Card holder, you can buy the shuttle ticket at a reduced price on board at the weekend. During the week or as an alternative, the GTT city buses line 11 and line 72 run regularly to Venaria** (approx. 30 min., valid with a normal city ticket). From the final stop it is a 10-minute walk to the Reggia.
- Superga Basilica: From the center (e.g. Piazza Castello) take the tram line 15 to the Sassi terminus. From there, take the historic cogwheel train** up to the Superga Basilica, which offers a panoramic view over Turin. The Torino+Piemonte Card entitles you to a reduced fare on this mountain railroad.
- Historic streetcar line 7: On Sundays and public holidays, line 7 runs with vintage streetcars on a circular route through the city center (start and end point: Piazza Castello). The round trip offers a leisurely tour of the city on rails. There is a special fare for this tourist streetcar (approx. €2 per round trip), but Torino Card holders can get free or discounted tickets.
